Enhance your container garden with West Coast Seeds - City Garden Pelleted Lettuce. This blend of green and red lettuces is selected specifically for baby greens, creating a spectacular display with diverse shapes, colors, and textures. Ideal for container growing, these lettuces look almost like a bouquet of flowers. Harvest the baby greens with scissors for an instant, pre-mixed salad. Grow in full sun from fall to spring, and in partial shade during the summer. Each pellet contains multiple seeds, so one or two pellets per 5" container is ample, resulting in an attractive and fully edible display.

Growing Information:

Season & Zone: Cool season, full sun to partial shade.
Timing: Seed every three weeks from just before the last frost date until the end of summer for a continuous harvest. Provide frost protection with a cloche or heavy row cover when frost looms in the fall. Many mesclun types and mixes will continue to grow all winter in mild climates.

Planting Instructions:

Starting: Plant in a block or wide row. Sprinkle the seeds evenly over prepared, moist soil, spacing seeds about 1cm (½”) apart. Cover lightly with soil and firm them in. For container growing, choose containers that are at least 10cm (4") deep. Avoid over-planting for best results.
Container Planting: Use containers at least 10cm (4") deep and choose wider containers for better growth.

Growing Tips:

Soil Requirements: Moderately fertile soil, especially if planning multiple harvests. Dig in 1 cup of complete organic fertilizer for every 3m (10') of row. For containers, use a peat or coir-based mix with added compost.
Watering: Water regularly. If growth slows after harvest, use a kelp or fish-based fertilizer to provide a boost of nutrition.

Harvesting Tips:

Method 1: Use scissors to cut everything 2-5cm (1-2") from the ground when plants are 10-15cm (3-4") tall.
Method 2: Pick individual leaves as needed. The salad greens will regrow for a second harvest in another 2-3 weeks.

Common Pests: Slugs and flea beetles can be a problem. Use appropriate measures to protect your crops.
